Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No. Snagly has no accounts and works offline. An internet connection is only needed to buy or restore the unlock, which is handled by the App Store.
What’s included for free, and what does the unlock add?
The free version includes every feature for one project. The one-time unlock lets you create as many projects as you need. There is no subscription. Archived projects count as projects; deleting a project frees its place.
I bought the unlock before, but the app doesn’t show it.
Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple Account, then open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchase. Backups don’t carry your purchase — it is restored from the App Store.
Where is my data stored?
On your device only. Projects, photos and markup are not uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them too, so export a backup first if you want to keep them.
How do I back up or move my projects to another device?
Open Settings › Export Full Backup to save everything — projects, photos,
markup, templates, phrases and default settings — as one .snagly file. To
back up one project, touch and hold it in the project list and choose Export
Backup. On the other device, open the file from the Files app, or use
Settings › Restore from Backup. Restoring adds new copies and never
overwrites existing projects.
Are PDF, Excel or CSV files a backup?
No. They are reports for other people to read and can’t be imported back. Use Export Backup to keep a copy you can restore.
Why can’t I export my report?
Every issue in the export needs a title, and its photos must be present. If something is missing, Snagly lists the issues to fix — tap one to open it. Exporting also waits until any photo import in the same project has finished.
How do I export only some of the issues?
Search or filter the issue list first, then open Report. Choose Current Results to export only what the list shows, or All Issues for everything. PDF, Excel and CSV use the same issues in the same order.
What are the three PDF layouts?
- Standard — optional cover page, up to two photos per row.
- Compact — no cover page, summary at the top, less white space.
- Large Photos — each photo uses the full width so markup is easy to see.
Does markup change my original photo?
No. Markup is stored separately and drawn on top of the photo in the app and in reports. You can edit or remove it later. Removing a photo from an issue does not delete it from your photo library.
My signature disappeared from the PDF.
If issues change after you sign, the signature is left out until you confirm it again. Open Report, review the report, then tap Confirm Signature or sign again. The hand-drawn signature appears in the PDF only and is not a certification.
Why does my CSV have an apostrophe before some text?
Text that a spreadsheet could read as a formula (starting with =, +, - or
@) gets a leading apostrophe so it is shown as plain text.
How do I change the language?
Snagly follows your device language and supports 16 languages. To pick a different language just for Snagly, open the iOS Settings app › Snagly › Language. Reports use the same language as the app; text you typed is not translated.
Can I print on US Letter instead of A4?
Yes. Open Report and choose Paper Size. New projects start with the size commonly used in your region.
Does Snagly upload my photos or reports?
No. The app has no accounts, analytics or ads, and nothing leaves your device unless you share or save a file yourself. See the privacy policy for details.
