Frequently Asked Questions
Which iPhones are supported?
Plum works on iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The lens button (for example 0.5×, 1×, 3×) shows the lenses your iPhone has; on iPhones with a single back lens, and on the front camera, the button is hidden.
How do I switch cameras?
Tap the camera button at the bottom right of the shooting screen. A row of cameras opens right there — swipe through it and the camera in the middle is selected, so the viewfinder changes as you go and you can compare several before you shoot. You can also tap a camera to select it. Tap the button again to close the row. All at the start of the row opens the full list, grouped into Classic, Cinema, and Decades, with a short description of each camera.
Which cameras are free, and what does Pro add?
Amber, CCD and Silver are free, for both photos and videos. Plum Pro unlocks every other camera, as a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription. You can preview a Pro camera in the viewfinder before buying; Plum asks you to unlock only when you take a photo, start a video, or apply that camera to an existing photo.
Is Pro a subscription?
You choose. Lifetime is a one-time purchase — pay once, nothing to renew or cancel. Monthly is a subscription that renews each month until you cancel. Both unlock the same cameras, and prices are shown in your local currency in the app.
How do I cancel the monthly subscription?
Open the Gallery, tap the gear to open Settings, and tap Manage Subscription. You can also cancel in the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account › Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge; Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. If you buy Lifetime while subscribed, cancel the subscription so you are not charged again.
I bought Pro before, but the app doesn’t show it.
Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple Account. Then open the Gallery, tap the gear to open Settings, tap Unlock all cameras, and tap Restore Purchase. You won’t be charged again.
Can I change the look of a photo after taking it?
Yes. Plum keeps the original of every photo. Open the photo in the Gallery, pick another camera or adjust Intensity and Brightness, then tap Apply. Press and hold the photo to compare it with the original. You can change it again as often as you like — every change starts from the original.
Can I change the look of a video later?
No. A video’s look is recorded into the video itself, so choose the camera before you start recording. The camera and intensity stay fixed while recording.
Where are my photos and videos saved?
In two places. Every shot is kept inside the app, in the Gallery, where you can view it, change its look, share or delete it. By default the finished photo or video is also saved to your Photos library as you shoot; turn Also save to Photos off in Settings if you prefer to save them one by one from the Gallery. If Photos access was turned off, the app keeps your shots in its own Gallery and asks once to allow access in the iOS Settings app. Deleting the app also deletes what is kept in the app, including originals and edits.
Can I use my existing photos?
Yes. In the Gallery, tap the import button and choose a photo. Plum stores a copy and applies the current camera; you can change the look afterwards like any other photo. Imported photos keep their original shape.
My video has no sound.
Camera access is required; microphone access is optional. Without it, videos are recorded without sound, and Plum shows a note while recording. To record sound, allow the microphone in the iOS Settings app › Plum.
Recording stopped on its own, or wouldn’t start.
Recording stops when a phone call or another app takes over the camera, or when you leave the app. Everything recorded up to that point is saved. Plum won’t start a recording when less than 500 MB of storage is free or when the iPhone is too hot.
How do I adjust focus and exposure?
Tap anywhere in the viewfinder to focus and set exposure there. For more control, tap Adjust to show the Exposure and Intensity sliders; Reset puts both back to their defaults.
My selfies look flipped (or not flipped).
The front camera preview is mirrored, like a mirror. By default, the saved photo or video is not mirrored, so text reads correctly. To save selfies the way you see them in the preview, turn on Mirror selfies in Settings.
Does Plum upload my photos or videos?
No. Everything is processed and stored on your iPhone, and the app has no accounts, analytics, or ads. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share something yourself. See the privacy policy for details.
